Partnerships can make or break an experience — and when done right, they feel effortless. Today, as we celebrate one year since the doors opened at my third Pilates studio, I’m surrounded by banded cupcakes, cookies, giveaway activations and a coffee bar from some of our favorite local vendors.

These collaborations aren’t just pretty additions; they’re lessons in alignment, simplicity, and creating moments people actually remember.

So I want to share my framework for building partnerships that don’t just look good — they work.

1. Start With Alignment — Not Reach

The biggest misconception about partnerships is that they’re about audience size.

They’re not.

The best collaborations happen when two brands serve the same type of person and when the brands truly align in values and mission. If a brand doesn’t understand your brand, your mission, or your audience, it can feel confusing to the consumer — and that confusion can hurt both sides.
